- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆WOULD NOT RETURN. OWNER'S WIFE HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've been to this place multiple times before and service has always been mediocre (nothing I would complain to the manager about but not excellent either) and food not bad. This time, my experience has driven me to boycott this place. I called in to make a reservation for 5 (4 adults, 1 child - never specifying the age of my child). When we arrived at the restaurant at 6pm we were directed to the back patio which was not a problem. The lady who sat us turned out to be the owner's wife and I don't think she has the slightest clue what customer service means. She was rude to us from the very beginning. There was only one table sitting in the patio at the back and no "reserved" signs on any tables. She gave us a square table that only sat 4 people and specifically pointed and said our child could sit at the corner of the table as if he was a pet that just needed to be tied down while we ate. I was outraged when she said that and asked politely if there was any possibility that we could have two tables put together so that we could all sit at the table to eat dinner. She proceeded to offer other tables adjacent to the table she sat us in which also only sat 4 people - not sure why she offered them because it didn't solve our problem of not having enough space for 5 bodies. She asked if we needed a highchair, we said yes and again she said my child could sit at the corner of the table. Its not like the restaurant was busy but she refused to give us a bigger table. Because we kept refusing to sit at a 4 person table, she eventually said she could seat us in the alley and put two tables together if we were okay with it. We agreed. She pushed two tables together and took what looked like a napkin off the ground to wipe the tables then asked the busboy to bring a cloth to wipe it down again. Other than the owner's wife, the other staff members provided decent customer service. Our server was even great. We agreed to stay at the restaurant since we initially decided to have dinner there and figured we wouldn't have to see her for the rest of our dinner. Even though the tables were wiped down with a cloth, I wiped it down again with baby wipes and it was filthy. At the end of our meal, we spoke to our server about our experience and from his response and reaction, it seemed like a frequent occurrence that people complain about the owner's wife. I didn't expect this type of restaurant to be extremely kid friendly but the bare minimum customer service was not even provided. My child was not treated like he was a customer, given zero table space to eat, but more like a pet that just needed somewhere to sit while the adults had dinner. For this reason, I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT. So disappointed with what I thought was a comfortable eating environment with decent food. Time to explore other restaurants on main!By Christine T, April 26, 2017
- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Surprisingly cozy restaurant, granted I sat downstairs with a large group of 17. Definitely wasn't apparent from the outside. Very rustic feel more so than the other places in the area. Feels less of a converted house than a cabin. Oh yeah the food, I had the lamb cannelloni. Bang on lamb flavour and it was succulent. That's all I had to try unfortunately but will be coming back, maybe even just for a drink at the bar. Service was friendly and attentive. I've been to more than half the restaurants in the area and this one actually feels different and in a good way.By Charles Chiu, April 17, 2017
